KiwiSaver

KiwiSaver is a voluntary, work-based savings initiative to help New Zealanders prepare for retirement.

Imagine KiwiSaver as a growing tree in your garden. You plant the seed (start your account) and nurture it with regular water and sunlight (contributions from you, your employer, and the government). Over time, the tree grows (your savings grow), eventually providing shade (financial security) for your later years.

You, your employer, and the government contribute money to your KiwiSaver account for when you retire (reach 65 years old) or want to buy your first house. The amount you contribute with each paycheck depends on you. You can choose 3%, 4%, 6%, 8%, or 10% of your pay to go to KiwiSaver.
