Exchange Rate
The exchange rate is the value of one country’s currency compared to another’s.
It tells you how much of one currency you can get with a certain amount of another currency.
For example, $1 New Zealand dollar (NZD) can buy you $0.61 US dollar (USD). So if you were to go over to the USA and take $1000 NZD, you’d get $610 USD to spend
Exchange rates go both ways.
So if you didn’t spend all your money on your trip, you can convert your money back into NZD to spend here in New Zealand. If you had $100 USD left over, you’d need to find the USD to NZD exchange rate. For example, $1 US dollar can buy you $1.64 NZD. So your $100 USD is worth $164 NZD.
